From the notebook

I hiked up toward the Belvedere lookout mostly for the view, but it was the pineapple stand on the way down that stayed with me — a farmer slicing samples with a machete, insisting his fruit beat Bora Bora's. Pushy in the friendliest way, and honestly, I couldn't argue with the taste.
